Giovanniàs House AGAIN

Giovanni bought us all a 'Sfogliatella' each after lunch. It was the BESTEST pastry I have tried thus far in Italy, with riccotta cheese in it. Lunch was a vegeterian pasta dish with tomotoes, potata, lentils and heaps of garlic.

Being multi-talented, Giovanni also managed to sort the brakes out on Princess Delores!

Giovanniàs Place

There is an awesome hostel in Napoli called Giovanniàs Place. He really welcomes everyone, and cooks pasta for dinner for those that are around. He seems to know almost EVERYTHING and is really protective of everyone, keeps everyoneàs valuables as Napoli is NOT a safe place.
Here is a photo of him cooking pasta bolognese/lasagna for dinner!!!!

Naples and Me

Me at Castel dell'Ovo and Bay of Naples

Napoli

Bay of Napoli and Mount Vesuvius
Castel Nuovo
Castel dell' Ovo

Two Stories I meant to tell you ...

SO I'VE AUTOSTRADED!!!!
Cycling on the autostrada is a BIG NO NO. However, I took the wrong turning out of Todi and after descending down at 20deg decline, one was not going to ascend the 20deg incline!!!!!! Especially when one had a 3km autostrada that one could pedal her little heart on! Lucky it was a public holiday and not too busy!!

AND even the Odometer couldnàt handle the torrential rain the other day!!!!!
It got waterlogged, and gave up the ghost for a good portion of the trip!

Sperlonga

This is a picture back at Sperlonga. I would of loved to spend the night here but unfortunately when I got there, the hostel was booked and I wasnàt prepared to spend $75 Euro on a hotel, so I high tailed it to Naples.

Flooding

Okay, so this day was bad. At one point, I would of given up, if I had of known where the train station was (which there wasnàt one) and how the buses worked (and also if I wasnàt worried about saving face to you all back home). Torrential rain, wet through, including thermals, wind gusts meaning I could not maintain a straight line on the road, italian drivers who decided it was funny to plant their foot whilst beside me in pannier deep water (you can imagine my language and hand gestures at this point). The photo above shows the flooding that one had to cycle through!

Tuscan Sunflowers

The closest that one will get to Tuscan sunflowers (2nd floor up!!!! check out the rain - after a flash thunderstorm, hail included)

Cortona

This is the view from Cortona, the one on the bottom is the view down to the Cimitero (cemetry) and the top one is looking back over where I have just cycled from.

Perugia Formaggio Show

I came across a 'formaggio' display underneath the walls of Perugia. You could try different cheeses and salamis!!!!!
In Perugia, the city is so high that there are esculators that take you between low points to the top!!!!! Unfortunatley, I did not know this until I had cycled to the top to try and find my accommodation which was at the bottom!

Baschi Camp Ground

Today I trained to Orte and then cycled through Amelia to Baschi. the weather turned bad!!!!! But I found a camp site beside Lago di Corbara (beautiful cycle if the view hadnàt been rain but it really reminded me of NZ). At the camp site, I met a great couple from Holland and they invited me to dinner in their camper which was AWESOME. The whole BCF sponsorship is very close to home to them too. SO A HUGE thank you to Els, John and Quinta. Will be great to catch up with you all again soon.

Foro Italico Olympic Stadio

By fluke (again) there was a Rome vs Lazio football game on at the Olympic Stadi (Foro Italico). Whilst not prepared to spend 80 Euro on a ticket, one was prepared to pretend one had left their jersey behind to gain access to the stadio (it took abit of persuasion especially with the language barrier). Photos to prove!!!

Vaticuni Musei

By fluke I was in Rome on the last Sunday of the month when entrance to the Vaticani Musei is FREE!!! Only 2 hour que.
Boy was it mammoth. If one was to read/look/take in everything, one would of been there for days.
